Kijk nou 's! Ons eerste radijsje uit eigen tuin!

Mooi hè? En lekker was ie ook :-)...

De rest moet nog even verder groeien.

Look at that! Our first little radish from the garden!

Pretty isn't it? And also very tasty :-)...

The rest of them has to grow a bit further.

We hebben twee moestuinbakken met allerlei soorten

sla, radijzen,bieslook, rozemarijn, lente uitjes, erwten, basilicum en dille.

Dit is het eerste jaar dat we ze hebben dus ik ben heel benieuwd hoe

het verder gaat met onze saladebar!

We have two gardening boxes with all sorts off lettuce, radishes, chives, rosemary,

spring onions, peas, basil and dille.

This is the first year we are trying this so I am very curious how this

works out!

Vanavond konden we al van de pluksla eten;

super lekker zo vers!

This evening we already could eat some of the lettuce;

fresh and delicious!

En nu even heel wat anders: de crochet along deken.

Tot mijn grote schaamte moet ik bekennen dat ik ben gestopt...

Ik was lekker op dreef en vond het heerlijk om met al die

kleuren en patronen in de weer te zijn, maar...

And now for something completely different: the crochet along blanket.

I am very ashamed to say that I quit...

I was doing nicely and loved making all those different stitches and

working with all those colours , but...

... hier ergens ging het mis. 

Ik verloor niet 1 steekje ofzo maar een heleboel!

Ik haakte op goed geluk nog een paar rijen verder en dacht dat het

nog wel zou bij trekken (ik verloor duidelijk niet alleen haak steken...).

Dat deed het natuurlijk niet en het werd redelijk rampzalig.

Ondertussen had ik ook al braaf alle draden weggewerkt dus het uithalen

werd ook al niks; met andere woorden: het is nu een kattendekentje!

Misschien vat ik ooit nog wel de moed om aan een nieuwe te beginnen...

.... somewhere around here things went wrong.

I didn't just lost one stitch but a whole lot!

I crocheted on and thought for some reason it would be o.k. in the end.

Of course it wasn't o.k. at all and it became a bit of a disaster actually.

I already sewed in all the ends so I couldn't use the yarn again;

in other words: it is a cat blanket now!

Maybe somewhere in the future I feel brave enough to start a new one...

Mandala becomes tablecloth

Toen ik besloot mee te doen aan de "mand-a-long" had ik nog geen idee

wat ik dan zou mandalen.

Ik had nog wel wat bolletjes katoen in mooie kleuren en daar begon ik 

mee te haken.... en te haken etc....

En omdat onze ronde tuintafel nog wel een kleedje kon gebruiken is het dat

dus aan het worden, ha!

When I decided to join the "mand-a-long" I didn't have a clue yet what to mandala.

I did have some balls of cotton yarn waiting in their basket and so I

started to crochet.... and crochet etc....

And because our round garden table was in need of a tablecloth it is becoming

just that!

En eigenlijk passen deze kleuren heel goed bij de tuin...

And actually those colours match just fine with the garden...

Bijna aan het randje van de tafel... en dan ook nog er overheen natuurlijk!

Ik haak nog even fijn verder :-)

Welcome to our little Keukenhof !

Zo noem ik voor het gemak ons kleine stukje tuin naast de voordeur

maar even op het moment!

Afgelopen herfst hebben ventje en ik het helemaal volgezet met

bollen in allerlei soorten en maten en nu is de hele boel ontploft!

That's how I call the little plot of garden next to our front door at the moment!

(The "Keukenhof" is a well known Dutch flower garden...)

Last Autumn little guy and I planted a lot of bulbs there in all

shapes and sizes, and now they are exploded!

En zo ziet het er vanaf binnen uit...

Ik word er elke keer als ik het zie weer blij van!

And this is how it looks from inside the house...

Makes me happy every time I see it!

Trouwens, deze kleuren ga ik gebruiken voor de "mand-a-long".

Allemaal nog heel erg bedankt voor de leuke reacties en ideeën...!

Nou, gewoon, met z'n allen mandala's haken! Leuk toch?

Dat vonden Chrissie en Daisy ook!

Ik weet alleen nooit zo goed wat ik er mee moet doen eigenlijk...

What is a mand-a-long?

Well, you know, get together and crochet mandala's! 

They are so much fun to make...

That's exactly what Chrissie and Daisy were thinking!

Only I don't know what to do with them once they're finished to be honest....

Een tijdje terug maakte ik deze, maar die telt eigenlijk niet want

dat was "gewoon" bedoelt als rond kussen... ;-)

Some time ago I made this one, but that doesn't count really because

that was "just" meant to be a round cushion... ;-)

Dit is weer een heel andere soort, vooral leuk om te maken

vanwege alle verschillende steken!

De patronen zijn trouwens van Wink, de koningin der haak-mandala's!

This is a another kind of crochet mandala,

especially nice to make because of all the different stitches!

The patterns are by Wink by the way, the queen of crochet mandala making!

Je kúnt er een katten cape van maken...

Pink Monday

Jawel, ik ben weer redelijk bij met de haak maar mee deken!

Het blijft leuk hoor om steeds weer kleuren te kiezen om mee

verder te haken....

I did some catching up on my crochet along blanket...

It's still fun every time to choose the next colour to work with!

Geïnspireerd door het schilderwerk van Chrissie en het mooie weer

heb ik vandaag de Annie Sloan potten er weer eens bij gepakt....

Inspired by Chrissie and the nice weather I got my pots of

Annie Sloan out of the cupboard again....

Herinneren jullie dit kringloop naaidoosje nog ?

Een eeuwigheid geleden ben ik begonnen met deze in de grondverf te zetten,

toen kende ik Annie nog niet helaas.

Daarna had ik er al helemaal geen zin meer in en hij is gewoon zo meeverhuisd.

(Waar zijn al die schroefjes ook alweer...????)

A very long time ago I started painting this but I didn't know Annie yet

unfortunately.

After that first coat of paint I was already fed up with the thing and

it moved house with us just like that.

( Where are all those screws though...???)

Deze kleur roze is niet officieel vrees ik, maar eigenhandig gemengd.

Nu nog een laagje denk ik en dan hard op zoek naar

de rest van de onderdelen ahum...

Wordt vervolgd!

I mixed this colour myself to be honest...

I think I need to paint another layer to get it right, and do

a search for the rest of all the parts....

Bits of spring and crochet

Tot nu toe lukt het prima om bij te blijven met de crochet-maar-mee deken!

Al heb ik sommige toeren geloof ik verkeerd om gehaakt om de 

een of andere duistere reden...

Ik ben evengoed wel blij met het resultaat gelukkig ;-)

So far I'm able to keep up with the crochet along blanket!

Although I think that maybe I made some rows the other way round

strangely enough...

I'm glad with the result anyway ;-).

Sinds we hier wonen, een half jaar ongeveer nu, hebben we vooral 

veel weggehaald uit de tuin. 

Dit jaar gaan we aan de slag om er echt onze plek van te maken!

Nu staat er dus nog niet zoveel, maar wat er staat schiet al aardig de

grond uit of staat in de knop.

Since we moved to this house, about half a year ago now,

we mostly got rid of lots of plants and shrubs from the garden.

This year we are going to make it the garden that we like!

Kijk, de clematis loopt al uit!

Look, the clematis is already growing new leaves!

Uit de voortuin plukte ik een paar sneeuwklokjes om binnen

van te genieten.

From the front garden I picked a few snowdrops so we

can enjoy them inside.

About staying warm basically ...

 Zou het dan toch nog een beetje kouder worden deze winter ?

Zodat we misschien kunnen schaatsen?

Voor de zekerheid haakte ik deze handwarmers dan ben ik vast voorbereid...

Volgens het patroon van Ingthings, alleen maakte ik het duimstukje wat langer

i.v.m. erafvriezende onderdelen.

De steen vond ik eergisteren bij het water :-).

Is it going to be a little bit colder this winter?

So that we can do some ice skating perhaps?

Just to be sure I made those handwarmers so that I am prepared...

I followed the pattern by Ingthings, only I made the thumb part a bit longer.

I found the stone on Sunday near the water :-).

Deze omslagdoek haakte ik van de restanten Stylecraft die ik nog

over had van de blokkendeken.

(Het patroon komt uit het boek 'haken en kleur' )

Zo'n sjaal is ideaal voor als je het nog niet koud genoeg hebt om

helemaal onder een deken te kruipen maar wel een beetje

behaaglijkheid nodig hebt zeg maar...

(Voordat jullie je dat afvragen: ja hoor, we hebben centrale verwarming ;-))

Ik zie nu dat ie geweldig staat bij ons slaapkamergordijn!

Vanwege het niet al te beste licht vandaag ben ik het hele huis door gegaan

om te kijken waar ik een foto kon maken....

I made this shawl from the Stylecraft yarn that was left over from

the granny square blanket I finished recently.

(The pattern is from the book 'crochet and colour).

It is really ideal for when you are not cold enough to wrap up in a blanket

but still need a bit of warmth so to speak...

( In case you are wondering: yes, we do have central heating ;-)).

I see now that it matches our bedroom curtain perfectly!

Because of the light being not all to good to make pictures I went

looking around the house for a good spot...

Tsja... alwéér een deken, ik kan het gewoon niet laten!

I'm so sorry, I just can't help myself!

This is the result of week three in the Crochet along.

En zo zitten we dan gezellig samen op de bank, daar blijf je ook 

lekker warm van!

And this is how we sit together on the sofa,

also a good way to stay warm!

De strepen die ik tot nu toe haakte voor de Crochet Along, 

voor u gepresenteerd door mijn lieftallige assistente...

These are the stripes I made so far for the Crochet Along,

showed to you by my lovely assistant....

Ik heb er alleen wel een steek bij moeten smokkelen,

zou dat erg zijn voor de rest van de deken?

( Of moet ik overnieuw beginnen.... :-( ).

I had to smuggle one stitch extra to it,

would that be bad for the rest of the blanket?

( Or should I start all over again... :-().

Over assistenten gesproken: hier een heel wazig exemplaar...

Ik wilde eigenlijk nog even laten zien dat m'n lapjes deken nu

helemaal af is, met rand en al!

Talking about assistant's: here's a very vague one...

Actually I wanted to show you that my granny

square blanket is finished now, border and all!

Nog even doorhaken en ons huis ligt helemaal vol 

met gehaakte dekens, kussens en sjaals,

ik vind dat zoooo gezellig!

Ik heb nu al zin in de volgende streep van de Cal deken,

vrijdag is het weer zover; waar een mens zich al niet op kan verheugen hè ;-) ?

Our house is almost totally filled with crochet blankets,

shawls and cushions, 

and I'm loving it; it's soooo cosy!

I am already looking forward to the next stripe in the Cal blanket,

Friday is the day.

Funny how a person can look forward to something like a stripe,

isn't it ;-) !
