Five on Friday: good to be back!

Hello lovelies!

Long time ago, again... I am so sorry for my long absence every time but I am 

so distracted by other things, and there is Instagram as well.

It's so much quicker and easier to drop a photo and a line a day by just using your phone.

Makes me a bit lazy I guess....

Anyway, as you can see, I switched to English again because that translate button makes

a mess of translating and all you get is some rubbish pile of words!

Well, even more than my own effort to do so :-).

Of course lots of things happened in the meantime and I will pick a few random things that 

I like to share with you.

Number one has to be our new addition to the cat family!

Her name is Wiske and we got her from an animal rescue centre.

She and her mum and siblings were discovered on a farm and taken to the animal shelter.

Wiske was in a foster home for a while to get her used to people and their behaviour and now she 

is a very lovely little girl to have around.

I have to say we couldn't have done it without Catoo!

She is so sweet with Wiske and learnt her everything she can and cannot do in this household.

Pippi on the other hand is really bossy and still goes her own way.

But that's perfectly allright, she never really liked other cats anyway, 

she just tolerates them.

On number two some crochet, potholders to be precise.

I really liked making them and they are already in good use in the kitchen!

If you like to make them too, here is where you can find the pattern.

I think this one is only in Dutch, but there are numerous patterns like this available

for free on the internet, also in English.

Number three is some more crochet, a scarf this time!

It's that time of year again to wrap up in something warm...

It has to be a lot colder first before I wear this one though.

It's made from merino wool; 

I dyed it myself, then carded it, spun it, twined it and finally

I could crochet this scarf, phew! 

I loved the whole process, it's really fun to do it all.

Because I didn't quite knew how much wool I had in the end I just made this pattern

up as I went; fortunately I really like the result!

Number four I'd like to show you is something I felted and embroidered.

It's also for sale, by the way ;-).

And as the last subject I choose some garden(related) pictures.

We are still so lucky with the weather!

Five on Friday: Yorkshire

Ooh en dan had ik nog niet eens alles van Schotland laten zien!

Maar ik kan niet aan de gang blijven met al die vakantie foto's want ik

word ook nog ingehaald door de dingen van alledag; dus nu moet het maar eens 

ophouden ;-)!

Dus deze 'Vijf op vrijdag' leek me een goede gelegenheid, al heb ik wel wat gesmokkeld

door een stel foto's in collages te stoppen.

Hierboven krijg je een beetje een idee van het lieve, rustige plaatsje waar we verbleven

tijdens onze week in Yorkshire.

Ow, and I didn't even show you everything we saw in Scotland!

But I can't keep going on with all these holiday pics because it gets in the way with

all the daily stuff going on, it has to end now ;-)!

So this 'Five on Friday' seemed a good opportunity, although I cheated a little

bit by making collages of everything.

The above one is an impression of the sweet and peaceful village were we stayed

during our week in Yorkshire.

We zaten vlakbij Beverley,

een schitterend oud stadje met een hele bekende kathedraal.

(Whaaa, zo moeilijk om te kiezen, want alleen hierover kan je al een blog schrijven,

maar ik hou me in..... !)

We were close to Beverley,

a very beautiful old town with the well known huge Beverley Minster.

(Whaaa, it's so hard to choose, because on this subject alone you can write a whole blog,

but I restrain myself....!)

Een dag aan de kust met heerlijk weer was ons ook nog gegund!

Hier zie je Whitby abbey, een geweldig mooie ruïne bovenop een klif.

We were very lucky to have beautiful day on the coast as well!

Here you see Whitby abbey, a magnificent ruin on top of a cliff.

Robin Hood's Bay, ook al zo'n schitterend plaatsje.

 Heel schilderachtig gelegen tegen een heuvel aan de zee. 

Die huizen, winkeltjes, uitzichten, straatjes; daar zou je ook makkelijk een hele

dag foto's kunnen maken en genieten van alles om je heen.

Robin Hood's Bay, another beautiful little village.

A very picturesque place situated on a hill by the sea.

Those houses, shops, views, streets; one could easily fill a whole day

just taking pictures and enjoy everything around you.

Scarborough is heel wat anders, heel toeristisch en druk,

maar ook heel leuk om even rond te kijken.

Ik vind zo'n haventje altijd zo heerlijk om rond te struinen...

Scarborough is a totally different kind of place, much busier but also

nice for a stroll.

I love to see all the things going on in the little harbour...

Ik weet het, ik zit al aan de vijf voor vandaag,

maar deze moet ik echt nog even laten zien:

de Tardis van Dr. Who!

Ik was er nog nooit ergens een in het echt tegengekomen dus vandaar dat 

ie er echt even op moest :-).

Five on Friday: about cats, flowers and crochet.

Daar ben ik weer op vrijdag; maar goed dat er vrijdagen zijn

anders verscheen er hier weinig op het moment vrees ik.

Van deze foto word ik helemaal vrolijk,

een bosje blommen uit de tuin en een vers afgerond haakwerkje!

Here I am again on Friday;

thank goodness for Friday's otherwise there was not much to see

here at the moment I'm afraid.

This picture makes me happy,

a little bunch of flowers from the garden and

some freshly finished crochet!

Ik kocht dit boekje met onze aanstaande vakantie in mijn achterhoofd,

maar ja, als je er eenmaal in gaat bladeren wil je natuurlijk gelijk aan de gang....

Gelukkig staat er zoveel in dat er nog genoeg over is!

I bought this book with our upcoming Holiday in the back of my mind,

but you know, when you start browsing through it you already want to make one...

Fortunately there is so much in it there's plenty left to do!

En dan is daar nummer twee van deze week: Catoo.

Je zou het zo niet zeggen, maar geloof me, we zijn allemaal compleet gestoord van 

haar geworden de afgelopen dagen!

Ze is krols en loopt continu krijsend door het huis, ook 's nachts worden we er wakker van 

 al zit ze dan beneden en wij boven.

Thuiswerken was voor manlief ook heel lastig want mensen aan de telefoon

bleven ze maar vragen wat dat toch voor een raar geluid was op de achtergrond.

Het arme beestje zal er zelf ook wel niet goed van worden want ze 

komt haast niet meer aan slapen toe.

Na onze vakantie gaat ze naar de dierenarts om te worden 'geholpen', phew...

And there's number two from this week: Catoo.

Now you wouldn't say it when you see her like this, but believe me,

she drove us completely mad these past few days!

She's 'on heat' as the dictionary says, hope that's the correct word,

and she is wandering and screaming through the house all day long,

and even at night we hear her when she's downstairs and we're up.

Working from home was quite an ordeal for husband as people on the phone

kept on asking what that strange noise in the background was.

The poor little thing must be exhausted herself because she hardly 

gets any sleep.

After our Holiday she goes to the vet to be 'helped', phew...

En joepie, onze stoofpeer staat weer in bloei!

Vorig jaar deed ie helemaal niks jammergenoeg maar hopelijk hebben

we nu in het najaar weer een maaltje peren.

And yay, our cooking pear tree is flowering again!

Last year it did nothing whatsoever unfortunately but hopefully this 

year we will have a proper meal from it.

Pippi deed alvast wat snoeiwerk.

Ze was eigenlijk de hele tijd buiten om Catoo te ontvluchten.

Als ze binnen was om snel wat te eten en te drinken en Catoo kwam aan haar

hoofd zeuren (nou ja, krijsen) dan deelde ze een paar tikken uit en ging er weer vandoor.

Pippi already did some pruning.

Actually she was out most of the time to escape Catoo.

When she was in for something to eat or drink and Catoo came bothering her,

she gave a few hits and disappeared again.

In de tuin gaat alles als een speer met dit groeizame weer!

Uhmmm... is dit nummer vier??

In the garden everything goes so fast with this kind of weather!

Uhmmm... is this number four??

Nou ja, dan zal dit nummer vijf wel zijn.

Mooi om mee af te sluiten, toch?

Alvast een heel fijn weekend lieve mensen en tot gauw weer!

Five on Friday

Hallo allemaal, hier weer een 'Vijf op vrijdag'!

Nummer 1: 

een kussen dat ik haakte en waarvan ik zelf de wol ook gesponnen heb.

Hello you guys, here's another 'Five on Friday'!

Number 1 : 

this pillow; I spun the wool myself, very soft merino, 

and then crocheted (?) the cover.

Ik denk dat je op deze foto wel kunt zien dat ik het draad voor de 

bloem zo gesponnen heb dat er verschillende tinten in zitten waardoor

het heel levendig wordt.

I think you can see in this picture that I spun the wool for the flower

with different shades so it gets more lively.

Ik heb geen patroon gebruikt ofzo maar eigenlijk gewoon 

op gevoel 'wild' gehaakt .

I didn't use a pattern or anything but just did 

some 'wild' crochet, you know, go with the flow.

Ik ben er eerlijk gezegd heel blij mee!

Er is er nog een in de maak, met de licht turquoise merino die ik al 

heb gesponnen.

To be honest, I am really chuffed with it!

There's another one on my hook, with the light turqoise merino 

I already spun.

Nummer 2: 

slaplantjes, ze groeien hartstikke goed!

Number 2:

lettuce plants, they are doing so well!

Nummer 3:

foto's van onze na-het-eten- wandelingetjes.

Number 3:

pictures of our after-dinner walks.

Nummer 4:

nog meer haakwerk.

Deze foto gebruikte ik ook op Instagram om mijn favoriete

dekens te laten zien....

Number 4:

.... en even later zag ik dit: 

onze eigen prinses op de erwt.

.... and a bit later I saw this:

our own prinses and the pea.

Veel lekkerder kun je denk ik niet liggen!

I don't think it gets any more comfortable then this!

Nummer 5:

de lente is nu dan toch echt begonnen,

ook in onze tuin.

Alles staat er nu zo lekker fris groen en bloesemig bij!

Five on Friday

Deze vrijdag 'gewoon' weer wat dagelijkse dingetje van de afgelopen week.

Simpel maar wel blijmakend!

Als een kind zo blij ben ik met deze twee nieuwe mokken bijvoorbeeld.

Helemaal perfect zijn ze; qua kleur, print, vorm, formaat en prijs. 

Echt Hema ;-).

This Friday 'just' some simple things from last week again.

Simple but happy-making!

So chuffed with these two new mugs for example.

They are totally perfect to me; the right colours, prints, shape, size and price.

From 'Hema', a Dutch department store with pretty basics for nice prices ;-)

Jazeker, dit is er weer eentje voor de blije mutsen categorie!

Het slaat helemaal nergens op maar ik word er vrolijk van, mooi toch?

Maybe it doesn't make sense to be so delirious about two mugs,

but that's me!

En kijk nou, ik vond al wat mini sla plantjes bij onze lokale kweker.

Beetje vroeg misschien maar ik denk dat ze het wel redden in onze

salade bakken.

Joepie, het lijkt al op lente!

And look here, I already found some mini lettuce plants at our local nursery.

A little bit early maybe but I reckon they will be fine in our salad bar.

Yes, it looks like spring!

Kat en personeel hebben dezelfde hobby: spinnen.

Ik heb weer heel wat meters garen erbij en ben er alvast mee aan het haken ook.

Het wordt toch nog een sjaal, nou ja die kun je altijd wel gebruiken en deze wol

is zo lekker zacht!

So cosy to have company when I'm spinning.

I made several metres of yarn again and I am already using it to crochet another(!) scarf.

Well, you know, you can't have to many and this wool is so nice and soft!

En dan buiten in de zon kunnen haken 'met zonder jas' ...

Niet echt sjalen weer op dat moment.

And to be able to sit outside without a coat...

Not really scarf weather at that moment.

Ik maakte ook nog een heerlijke wandeling met speciaal bezoek uit België,

namelijk Miss Creatuurtje herself!

Zo fijn om lekker even bij te praten en lol te hebben met een lieve vriendin.

I also had a wonderful walk with a special visitor from Belgium,

Miss Creatuurtje herself!

So very lovely to be able to have a good chat and lots of fun with a dear friend.

Oh, en dit is dan alweer nummer vijf denk ik hè?

Ik vond deze crocusjes ook zo mooi, ze lijken wel licht te geven hè?

Oh, and this is already number five, isn't it?

I just loved these crocuses, they seem to give light, don't they?

Naaaah, nog een dan.... 

blauwe druifjes gezien vanuit kabouter perspectief!

Oh ja, en nog heel erg bedankt voor jullie hulp bij mijn bloementwijfel

van vorige week; tuurlijk was dat een ranonkel in plaats van een pioen...

laat mijn moeder het maar niet lezen ;-).
